The Elephant Paradise

Tarangire National Park is renowned for its spectacular elephant gatherings and the iconic baobab trees that stand as silent witnesses to the park’s ancient landscapes. With its varied ecosystems—from riverine woodlands to open savannahs—Tarangire provides a quieter and more intimate safari experience compared to the larger parks. Its less crowded roads and abundant wildlife create the perfect setting for both leisurely game drives and immersive walking safaris.

  • Observe large herds of elephants, particularly around the Tarangire River, which acts as a vital water source during the dry season.
  • Enjoy the sight of ancient, sprawling baobab trees that punctuate the savannah landscape.
  • Experience excellent birdwatching opportunities, with over 500 species inhabiting the park.
  • Take part in walking safaris that offer a ground-level view of the park’s flora and fauna.

The dry season, from June to October, is ideal for visiting Tarangire as the landscape becomes drier and wildlife is concentrated around waterholes, making sightings more reliable. The cooler temperatures during these months also provide a comfortable climate for game drives and walking safaris.
